Against the new licensing laws? Sign the petition!

The government are in the process of reorganising the licensing laws for live music performance here in the UK. However, not all is well with their plans…

These new laws would (or so it seems on the surface) make it very difficult for musicians to perform live in small venues, or for schools, pubs and charities to raise money for causes through musical events.

I hope you’ll agree that’s bad for all concerned, and I urge you to sign the petition on the Downing Street website.

Have your say… http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/licensing/

‘The Hopper Ward’ on Radio 2

I’ve just been chatting to Jim from ‘The Hopper Ward’ - apparently ‘SAD’ (one of the tracks from their recent demo) was played on the Steve Lamacq show on Radio 2 last night. How cool is that?

Thanks to the wonderfulness of streaming media, they (and you) can listen to the entire show again until Tuesday 22nd by visiting http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio2_aod.shtml?radio2/rs_lamacq.

It’s a great bit of publicity for a band who are doing literally EVERYTHING themselves. They really seem to be going places too!…

Check them out at http://www.thehopperward.com/ or www.myspace.com/thehopperward.

New ‘Useful Resources’ page

The other day we updated our Affiliates page on the main Musoswire website. We also changed it’s name!

It’s now called ‘Useful Resources’ (or Resources on the menu), and the hope is that we can provide you with links to websites and companies that can help you with various aspects of your bands promotion and marketing activities.

We’ll be updating this page on a fairly regular basis, so keep checking back to see what’s new!
